WHS for Supervisors & Managers

Workplace Health and Safety

Course Overview

Supervisors and Managers play a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. As the key link between leadership and workers, they influence how safety systems are applied and help foster a strong, compliant safety culture.

This course provides participants with essential knowledge of their duties under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and supporting regulations. It explains the primary duty of care held by the person conducting a business or undertaking, the responsibilities of officers to exercise due diligence, and the role of workers in supporting safe work practices. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the risk management process, including how to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures.

The course also introduces key concepts in managing psychosocial hazards, such as high job demands, low role clarity, and inadequate support, and explains how these risks affect psychological health and safety. In addition, participants will learn how human performance is shaped by individual, job, and organisational factors, and why integrating human factors into WHS practices is essential for system reliability.

Emphasis is placed on the importance of consultation, cooperation, and coordination with workers to meet legal requirements and improve safety outcomes.
